Springfield Armory M1911A1 9mm

Came across this sweetheart in my local gun emporium and just had to try it out.  Original owner added a premium SA barrel, a SA mag well, Novak Low Mount rear sights and a Videki trigger.  Shoots like a dream, almost no recoil.  Came with five magazines so I'm set for awhile!

Colt Gold Cup

Trophy

.45 ACP

I've never owned a "real" Colt M1911 so when I saw this one in the case for a reasonable price I decided to give it a try.  As a bonus it came with a Ciener Platinum Cup .22LR Conversion Unit and two magazines.  So far so good.  Word of advice - don't count on cheap (Blazer) .22 ammo to cycle the Ciener reliably.  High velocity stuff works just fine though.

Smith & Wesson Model 28, 4" Barrel .357 MAGNUM

If I had to pick only one of my handguns to live with for the rest of my life, this one would probably be my choice.  Built on S&W's massive N frame, this revolver will handle just about anything you can stuff into the cylinder.  I've put some real stiff handloads through this brute and it just "takes a licking and keeps on a ticking".

Smith & Wesson Model 19, 4" Barrel .357 MAGNUM

Another veteran revolver.  Bought new in 1975, this gun has spent years riding in a holster in all kinds of weather.  Rear sights are badly dinged from having been hit against door frames of every description.  Action was polished by our department armorer (a graduate of the S&W course) until it felt like two pieces of oiled glass sliding together.  Wide "combat" style trigger and hammer complete my modifications to the factory specs.  Finish is worn some, but still in fairly good shape.

Smith & Wesson Model 19, 2 1/2" Barrel .357 MAGNUM

Also bought new in 1975, this revolver has served in a variety of roles and has never missed a beat.  From dirty, smoky reloads to hot Super Vel JHP loads, this veteran has always shot to the point of aim.  Finally got around to having this pistol hard chromed at Accurate Plating and Weaponry.  Looks a lot better now than it did.

Kimber Custom TLE RL II

.45 ACP

One of the newer pistols, but really a sweet 1911.  I like the option of the rail (I don't even mind front slide serrations!).  This pistol has a great trigger and decent sights.  I put on a set of Kim Ahrends grips just because I like the contrast.

Kimber Eclipse Target II

.45 ACP

This one belongs to my youngest son.  A fantastic shooter right from the box.  He has replaced the factory silver/black laminate grips with Kimber's red/black laminates.  He claims that this is the best pistol of them all.

Kimber Ultra CDP II

.45 ACP

I had some concerns about the reliability of the "less than 5 inch" pistols, but this one hasn't burped yet (in over 500 rounds).  Recoil is more noticeable, but I guess that's to be expected from such a small package.  This one will probably end up to be my "carry gun".  Very accurate little shooter!

Kimber Stainless Pro Carry

.45 ACP

Picked this one up used, but very close to "new in the box" condition.  Like the other Kimbers, it's been faultless so far.  Great "carry" gun.  These alloy frame pistols do have noticeably more perceived recoil than their steel framed brothers, but a close examination of the frame doesn't reveal any undue wear.

Para-Ordnance 7.45 LDA

.45 ACP

I always wanted to try one of Para's LDA pistols.  I've put a couple of hundred rounds through this one so far and it hasn't missed a beat.  I'm getting to like to DA, you can "stage" it, just like a revolver.  This might be a keeper.

Ruger Mark 3

.22 LR

I really had an urge to "get back to the basics" of shooting, so I went out and bought this pistol.  I really enjoy shooting it, but the disassembly and cleaning was a real nightmare until I got the hang of it.  The UltraDot red dot scope really helps these aging eyes!  I've shot ten round one-hole groups at 50' from a rest.

Taurus 448B .44 MAGNUM
The newest addition to the arsenal and it's a sweet one.  I couldn't go without a .44 Mag any longer.  Full length underlug makes this beast muzzle heavy.  It's ported also so that should help with recoil control.  Jeez, this is one heavy handgun.

CZ P-01

9mm

I've always had a fondness for the CZ pistols.  In the past I've owned several CZ 75's and a CZ-40B.  I found this little job at the local firearms emporium in hardly used condition.  My M-6 Tactical Laser and Illuminator fits like a glove.  Think I'll give the Beretta a rest from nightstand duty for a while.

Para-Ordnance 7.45 LDA CCW

.45 ACP

A stainless "Commander" size pistol with Para's patented Light Double Action (LDA) action.  This pistol is optimized for concealed carry.  It has a hammer, but it is just a sliver.  Kinda heavy for a CCW, but it does help soak up the recoil inherent with sub 5" pistols.

Smith & Wesson Model 642, 1 7/8"" Barrel .38 SPL

My youngest son wanted a handgun he could just slip into his pocket without bothering with a holster.  Added some Hogue mono-grips because it was a real pain (pun intended) to shoot.

Springfield Armory Trophy Match Longslide

.45 ACP

I've always wanted a long slide but didn't want a ported 1911.  Seems I could always find a V-16 pretty easy, but I resisted - until I found this beauty.  The first 100 rounds were a nightmare.  Failures of every description.  I had expected some issues but started to have some real concerns.  Suddenly, everything started working reliably (at least for the last 50 rounds).  I now have around 700 rounds through it and not another malfunction of any type.  I'm lovin' it!

Mossberg 590 12 GA.
This is for serious "socializing" if the requirement ever comes up.  What can I say about it, it's black with a perforated heat shield and it's all business.  If it came time to "bug out" this one would come with me, along with the S&W M28.

Ruger K10/22

.22 LR

I'm not quite sure why I keep referring to this rifle as a "Ruger" because about the only thing left from the factory rifle is the receiver.  Still, great shooting rifle that I sometimes use in postal matches.  Quite capable of "near one hole" 10 shot groups at 25 yds.

Remington

Model 700

VLS SS

.223

One of 400 limited editions made.  Black laminated stock with grip cap.  Stainless steel heavy barrel, jeweled bolt.  Silver Leupold 6.5x20x40mm scope.  I just can't seem to find the time to get to an outdoor range so I can try this baby out.

Ruger M77 MKII

.308

A big, heavy target rifle with a high magnification scope on it.  It's heavy enough to soak up recoil pretty efficiently, but I sure wouldn't want to carry it very far afield.  Same problem as with the Remington - just can't seem to find time to get to the range.

Olympic Arms Model PCR-16

.223

This is a flat top AR15 with a heavy target barrel.  I put a cheap red dot scope.  Several hundred rounds without a single jam or misfire.  Trigger has improved significantly just by shooting it.  I added a Ciener .22 Conversion Unit.
